Clara Luper Freedom Fiesta 2026
The Clara Luper Legacy Committee celebrates Civil Rights activist and teacher Clara Luper in a week long event showcasing unity and excellence in Oklahoma City. The NAACP joined other civil rights activist and supporters in the 68th Anniversary of the Oklahoma Sit-Ins which featured several activities and events to promote unity. The groups marched from Calvary Baptist Church (also the home of Dan Davis Law Firm) to The Clara Luper National Sit-In Plaza located at Robinson and Main Street. Along with this event, the Legacy Committee and Oklahoma Historical Society hosted an art show, musical concert, Fiesta in the Park, and a Freedom Service at 5th Street Baptist Church. The week was full of meaningful events for the civil rights community, with our own President Garland Pruitt serving as the Emcee of the Freedom Service. Thank you to all who stood with us including organizations and change makers, making this another epic presentation and demonstration of what standing up for our freedoms has brought us!
